Imagine this: you’re looking up recipes to try out for the week and you come across a perfect one! Everything you’re in the mood for and craving. You realize it’s asking for ketchup, but you’re trying to limit the amount of sugar in your diet.
Try finding any ketchup that doesn’t have sugar in stores. It’s virtually impossible. I know. I know. Making your own at home just isn’t the same. And I’m not saying that what I have for you here is a perfect 1:1 replacement. It’s not. But it’s good. And it does the job. Isn’t that enough to ask out of your ketchup?
This homemade tangy ketchup is less sweet than the store brought variety but is just as good with your favorite side. The best thing about it is that you get to decide what goes in it and play around with different spices. If you want to make it spicy, add cayenne pepper. If you want to make it sweet, add more sugar or try honey! The possibilities are endless.
Don’t be shy: if you come up with different versions, please let me know in the comments below! This goes great with many recipes on this site, but be sure to add it to the English-Style Fish and Oven Baked Potato Chips.
